Elliott is a Heeler mix. Our Vet calls him a Heeler Mutt, which works for us! We got
him in October of 2008 when he was about 11 months old from the Panhandle animal shelter in Sandpoint, Idaho where he had been for three months.
He was brought in by a construction worker who had pursuaded him, after 3 days of coaxing, to swim across the Pend Orielle river to safety. He is
very smart and loves to play frisbee. He's adapted well to home life - Can you tell? He is a sweet, adorable guy and we love
him very much!
Emma is a 1 1/2 year old Guinea pig. She lives in the livingroom so she can be with the rest of the family. She and our cat like
each other, which I find kind of surprising. She loves it when we talk to her and always answers when we call her name. She loves carrots and lettuce,
of course, and she's never shy when she decides that she wants something to eat.
Felix is a domestic shorthaired cat who came to live with us after moving into our
neighborhood and deciding to camp out on our back porch. After feeding him for over a month, we let him in the house
and he's been here ever since. He's fun and we really enjoy having him around.
Forrest is a beautiful cat that was rescued about 4 years ago by a lady who lived in a rural area where someone had dumped a cat and her kittens
into her field. She was only able to save him as the others were killed by coyotes. When he and I met, we both decided we really needed each other and
he came home with me. He is terrified to go outside and so, is a 100% house cat. Although he sometimes tolerates my husband and son,
he has decided that I am "his person".
George is a retriever mix puppy that we got after the shelter I volunteer at received him,
his mother, and his 5 siblings, all very tiny at the time. Being the runt of the litter, he was smaller than the others and needed
extra care and feeding, which I did. We bonded, and the rest is history! He is an adorable little guy and we look forward to having
him around for many years to come.
Gerard is a pointer mix who we adopted from a shelter after he was rescued from a puppy mill.
He was very thin and timid and needed some TLC for the first few months, but he is a real fighter and as time passed, he got healthier
and more outgoing and friendly. After 2+ years, he pretty much acts like any other dog, which is wonderful to see. He is a
lucky boy and we feel very blessed to have him.
Gizmo Gizmo is a Chow-Chow that our daughter brought home a few years ago.
When she left for college, he stayed with us. We all miss her, including "Gizzy", who seems to be making the
transition of having no kids left at home a little easier.
Herman is a the Syrian hamster. This is a picture of Herman when he
was a baby - Cute, right? I got him from my best friend, Crystal, who's hamster had babies and my mom said I could have one.
He is cute and loves his wheel and his ball that he rolls around in. He doesn't bite and is a nice pet.
Hunnie: I've had my cat since he was 3 weeks old he is now 3 years old.
I got him neutered back in 2009 and ever since then he has gotten so big. My cat weighs 23lbs lol.... He's lovable
and he's the only one that can really make me laugh or smile when I'm upset or sad. It's just me and my Hunnie.
Kenny is a Domestic Shorthair. He is about 4 years old and we got him when our neighbors moved and left him behind. He has a great personality and has become
the "alpha" pet in our house, even bossing our yellow lab around. He is constantly up to something, like chewing on
things he isn't supposed to, including us, at times. He has the "black cat" crazy personality, so he's lots of fun.
Lola is a Deer Head Chihuaua. She is 8 and I've had her since her she was a puppy. She is mocha-colored,
which is an unusual color for her breed. She loves to sleep under the covers and she loves all kinds of cheese. She also loves to go for bike rides, where she
rides in the basket on the front on her little blanket. I have a 2-year-old son who has a bike seat and rides on the back, so the three of us make quite the team.
She has no clue as to how little she is and she'll try to bite any dog that gets too close to me.
Lumpy is a Decorator Crab. He looks like a saltwater tarantula, and he's the wierdest looking thing I've ever seen in a fish tank. In this picture, he's looking straight at the camera. His eyes are the two black slits above his mouth and whisker-things.
These crabs have tiny hairs on their bodies that are like velcro, and they gather small things, like shells, and stick them to their bodies for camoflage and protection. What makes
them really interesting, though, is that when they molt and drop their old shell, they pick all the stuff off of it and move it to the new one.
